Choosing the right stroller will probably be the biggest and most difficult decision that you will have to make when it comes to buying baby gear.  You want something safe and reliable, but t has to be light enough to take in and out of the car, and let’s face it, it should look good too!  The only way to get exactly what you need is to get informed.
Think about what you are going to be using the stroller for.  Is this going to be used outside for some heavy-duty walking or is it more likely to go in and out of the car when you go to the mall?  Think about the size of your car and what it can realistically accommodate.  Remember, babies need a lot of gear…  Are you the outdoorsy type – will you go hiking in the forest, or mountains with the baby?  Do you plan on doing a lot of traveling?  The answers to these questions will influence the type of stroller that is right for you.  Keep in mind that this is probably the item that will get the most amount of use.  Don’t try to save on little things when buying a stroller – it’ll cost you more in the long-run in nerves, time and probably money too…  Once you’ve narrowed down the features or benefits that are most important to you, consider the following tips when selecting your baby's buggy.

  • When you press downward lightly on the handle, the stroller should resist tipping.
  • Check to make sure that the wheel base is wide enough to prevent tipping. When your baby leans over the side, the stroller should remain erect.
  • Consider the models where you can move the handlebar from one side to the other, or where the seat is adjustable to face either way. A model that allows you to keep an eye on your baby while you're strolling may provide you with a little extra peace of mind.
  • Folding strollers are an ideal choice for families on the go. Select one that opens and closes easily. If you are alone with your child, will you be able to manage the baby and the stroller?
  • Shopping baskets are a great convenience and should be located down low, directly over the rear axle. Hooking your purse or diaper bag over the handle of some strollers may cause tipping.
  • Strollers equipped with brakes or two wheels offer an added measure of safety. Select a stroller with a convenient braking system and check it before you buy.
  • Check stroller frame for hazardous sharp edges or gaps that could injure a child's small fingers or toes.
  • Make sure there is a five-point harness.  The straps should be strong and durable with working buckles. You'll be happier with a stroller that is easy for you to fasten and unfasten, but difficult for your child.
  • To keep your stroller in top-notch safety condition, give it a frequent check-up. Tighten nuts and bolts, replace worn straps, examine the brakes, lubricate the wheels, etc.
  • When shopping for a double or triple stroller, consider the weight and manageability of various models.
  • Take advantage of our stroller test-track to see how the stroller will maneuver on different terrain – try it before you buy it.

Some final safety thoughts:

  • Never leave a child unattended in a stroller.
  • Always secure the seat belt.
  • Never use a pillow in a stroller for an infant.
  • Keep children away when folding and unfolding a stroller.
  • Always apply the brakes when stopping for a period of time.
